The American Indian College Fund introduces the Curtis Blanket Collection. Based on images taken by Edward S. Curtis, the renowned photographer who recorded thousands of Native people at the turn of the 20th century, the collection features Navajo and Hidatsa tribal designs.

Using two Curtis photographs as inspiration, both blankets incorporate design elements that appear in the original photographs as well as added traditional tribal imagery.

The Navajo Water blanket, the first blanket in The Curtis Blanket Collection, features the dragonfly, a Navajo symbol that represents life.

Designed by the College Fund and manufactured by Pendleton Woolen Mills, the foremost manufacturer of American Indian trade blankets in the world, each blanket is made with virgin wool.
