A Navajo artist, Orville Tsinnie has been making jewelry for thirty years. It all began in 1973 when Orville – drawing on inspiration from his older sister’s jewelry – discovered his natural talent for metal work. After years of working for the Navajo Nation, Orville decided the time
had come to take a chance and chase down his dream.
"My wife Darlene thought I was crazy," Orville recalls. But now, three decades later, Orville is an award-winning
Navajo silver/goldsmith, an amazing feat for a self-taught
artist. His distinctive and stylish creations are rooted in Navajo design, yet still bridge the gap between
traditional and contemporary themes. Orville’s work is characterized as much by attention to detail as the
use of heavy-gauge silver and hand-picked stones.
Born and raised in Tuba City, Arizona, Orville now makes his home in Shiprock, New Mexico. The support and loyalty of his customers and fans continue to make all the hard work and dedication worthwhile.
